Making Solar Even Greener: Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Wagner Renewables, we’ve been empowering homes and businesses across the UK with solar energy for over a decade. But while we’ve been helping customers harness the power of the sun, trees have been doing it naturally for millions of years. Inspired by their long-standing relationship with the sun, we launched a new initiative in early 2022: planting a tree for every solar PV installation we complete.

A Greener Vision for the Future

Our mission is simple: to create a greener, more sustainable world. By offering renewable energy solutions across the South Coast, we aim to reduce carbon footprints while giving back to the environment in meaningful ways. Planting trees is a natural extension of this mission.

Although reducing global carbon emissions is a massive challenge, every effort counts. By contributing to reforestation, we’re playing a small but important part in tackling climate change and improving air quality.

These trees will find their home in The National Forest, a vast and growing green space in the heart of England.

Why The National Forest?

The National Forest, established in 1995, spans 200 square miles across parts of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Staffordshire. Its goal is to link two historic woodlands—Charnwood and Needwood Forests—while regenerating a region scarred by centuries of coal mining and industrial use.

This ambitious project has already transformed the Midlands, with over 9 million trees planted by 2021. The forest is a living testament to the power of regeneration, bringing new life to the landscape and offering a vital habitat for wildlife.

The forest is also a community treasure, with 80% of its area now open to the public. From scenic walks to historic landmarks in towns like Burton-Upon-Trent and Ashby-de-la-Zouch, The National Forest is a symbol of hope and renewal.

How We’re Contributing

For every solar PV system we install, we plant a tree in The National Forest. Our commitment doesn’t stop there—we’re also exploring ways to involve all our customers in this initiative and expand our reforestation efforts.

We’ve partnered with The National Forest as a business supporter and are planting a diverse mix of native trees, including:

• Oak
• Lime
• Wild Cherry
• Silver Birch
• Rowan
• Hazel

In addition, we’re working with local landowners near our offices in Sidlesham to regenerate unused spaces. By planting trees and wildflowers, we’re creating habitats that support bees, birds, and other wildlife while enhancing the natural beauty of our community.

In November 2024 we hit the amazing milestone of 350 trees planted.

Supporting Local Green Initiatives

Beyond planting trees and providing renewable energy solutions, we’re proud to support local charities that focus on green and environmental projects. We believe that fostering strong partnerships with community organisations amplifies our impact on the environment.

By donating to local charities, we help fund initiatives that range from community clean-up projects to wildlife conservation and environmental education programs. These partnerships enable us to support grassroots efforts that align with our mission to create a greener, more sustainable world.

Whether it’s helping to restore local habitats, supporting recycling programs, or funding educational workshops, we’re dedicated to empowering our community to embrace a more eco-friendly future.
